The Truth I Never Told Poem by Danny Ballan

The Truth I Never Told

I might have never told you
That the roses smell much better,
And all the lies sound so true;
With you before the day is through,
I feel love, down to the last letter.

Maybe I might have never confessed
That yours are the days and all the years.
For you're the spring got so in green dressed;
The only time when nature's truly blessed;
For you the dews dropped like crystal tears.

Maybe the truth of you I never have said:
That my heart has space for nobody else.
Unbreakable, but for you I have bled;
In blood and tears sewing the thread
To tie up my soul lost in the big mess.

Maybe so witless that I have never figured
That I with my two hands killed my little dove;
That I got shot by the same bullet I triggered;
That inside my heart, my heart is beleaguered,
And down my throat I choked the word of love.
