The Valentine Tears Poem by Apuna Rato

The Valentine Tears

I remember the night when the world of love
And the lover goes round merry-making, but there
She stood alone facing the sad sunset, thinking how
Her world was the last season. Deep down in heart,
She had a wound that could never be healed
In this lifetime. As I approached to lean her company,
I heard her say………..
"I am happy for you, you have found true love.
But tonight something bothers me and I want you
To call spade a spade. Were you seeing each other
Ere we met? And even when we still in "touch''?
Coz that's what I have been told. The whole time
Were you toying with my affections? Making me say
The words I treasured for life? Tell me why?
How could you do this to me? You ain't got no right
To play with other's emotions. Why ‘hope' to someone
When your heart doesn't feel? Why couldn't you be
Honest from the start? Can you restore me now?
My emotional wreckage? Nay nah! Nothing
On Earth can either. So to forget is the wiser
Way out and that's what I did, Leaving behind
What happened. Now I don't hold any grudges
Against you but an enjoin though I am naïve
In love. Be honest to your girl; Pledge not more
Than you can accomplish, always give her your
Undivided attention''.
I remember the night when my heart felt
"The Pain'' when the lover goes merry-making.
