The View From Here Poem by Grant House

The View From Here

Whew! says the gentle tarantula
Halfway across the road
Almost there, he exclaims
As he slowly takes
Eight more carefully orchestrated steps in the direction he is going
This is what I always say, he explains
When I find myself right here
Of course that is where I am
Halfway from, halfway to
Halfway in the middle
It is a fine place to be
Infinity before, Infinity again
When you are just getting started
Experience will be your friend
And when you are done
It is the right time to begin
Then, he confides as he leans in with fuzzy legged kindness,
I recommend
You cross your road with care
But be enthusiastic
The middle where you always are
Is the place you are supposed to be
And, he whispers like a secret he just had to share with me,
The view in all directions
Looking forward, sideways, back
Is utterly fantastic!

" And, he whispers like a secret he just had to share with me….The view in all directions Looking forward, sideways, back." Fantastical poem. Anybody that can make a tarantula into a literary hero is a genius to me!
