The Wall Around My Heart Poem by Aisha Sherazi

The Wall Around My Heart

The fences are up,
The doors locked tight,
The windows shut,
Curtains closed.

A wall has been built around my heart.

What can you throw at it?
To break it down?

Sorry?
I was wrong?
I miss you?
I love you?

Stop! Stop!
I give in!
The wall has crumbled!
It lies in a heap.

But still, I keep one stone,
Always there,
Always ready to be rebuilt,
Each time,
You hurt me.
