The Wanderer Poem by Fathima Usman

The Wanderer

The silent wanderer wades through dusk and dawn,
She stealthily sweeps across every lawn.
The lovely vagrant is so fragrant and fair,
She heralds the arrival of monsoon in the air.

Was it her voice I heard so near?
Or was it someone whispering in my ear?
Ah! I guess who it was
For the wanderer was the only one to pass.

The lonely traveller dusted the blades of grass,
So quiet the task, so gentle the lass;
She hurled and played with all the pollen,
Twirled and danced with the flowers that had fallen.

Oh! What are you that wanders?
You who bring seasonal wonders,
What are you that is so light and airy?
Are you the wind in all her glory?
