God has no opportunity to change fate
as men decide to use bullets and grenades,
soldiers have no time for prayers,
no chance to even seek interventions
as duty commands and speaks aloud.
God cannot hear the soldier's cries
as bombs explode and bullets spray
the soldiers faces the enemy;
they face the war to save others
and in that action they themselves perish.
In death, God and soldier meet each other
the soldier asked God -' had you no mercy on me? '
God answered- 'I could see you fighting,
i could see you in pain,
but i could also, see all those behind you
having their faith in you
holding their trust in you
you were their warrior keeping enemies at bay;
and just as men seek strength in Me
they had their hopes in you..
how could i pull you away then? '
Now, as on tombstones glow names
of soldiers silenced by wars,
in deepest slumber they rest forgotten,
while on the lips of men
praises and prayers to God alone
not realizing God and soldier worked together
in yielding peace to life
and right to other's existence
by a sacrifice so predetermined
by fate and pain.
