The Way It Is Poem by Trevor Toews

The Way It Is

The first tear dropped,
And the others didn’t hesitate,
Too many memories flashed at once
Too sudden the weight.
After all we’ve been through together,
Too much to contemplate.

I could wish for a thousand changes,
I’ve wished for them all,
But change isn't mine to give right now,
This is the way it is right now,

And the tears

just fall.

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning (Ps.30: 5) . I am not uncaring, but this is a promise. A meaningful poem!
