The Way We Hear Them It Seems They Know What They Are Doing Poem by RIC BASTASA

The Way We Hear Them It Seems They Know What They Are Doing

the cicadas sing upon a
summer
the heat hinges from one
forest fold
to another

the world is suffering but
just the same the cicadas
keep on singing

the way we hear them
it seems
they know what they are doing
