The Way We Were. Poem by Zeh SheZ

The Way We Were.

Great pain and grief,
I saw etched in your eyes.
You knew I knew it,
for in it we both did share.

For when your tears did fall, my tears were rolling too.
That pain was ours,
and yet our paths did split.

Despite eventual pain,
I'm glad we ever met.
Today, because we loved,
I know how deep the flame of passion burns.

So now hush babe,
don't you cry no more.
We both are victors,
because we loved despite.
And we let go;
with shredded hearts in bits.

Today we stand,
never fallen we two.
For when we left,
we lived to love again.
