The Well In The Park Poem by Margaret O Driscoll

The Well In The Park

Rating: 5.0

Bull frogs loudly croaking croaking
Amid pond lilies in the midday sun
A black swan displayed his annoyance
head held high strutting at everyone
Daffodils and forget-me-nots bloomed
In seperate segments in a circular bed
Orange blossom fragrance wafted as
A yellow butterfly drifted overhead
By the pathway in the park
Stood a stone built well
I turned the handle slowly
Into the water the roped bucket fell
Cranking it back up slowly
With water filled right up
I waited in the heat in anticipation
Then savoured the cool water from a cup
