The Wild Waves Of Kilcunda Poem by Francis Duggan

The Wild Waves Of Kilcunda

One can hear the ocean roaring from a half a mile away
The wild waves of Kilcunda are rolling high today
They crash against the volcanic rock face and spume up a foamy white spray
And chilly Winter winds blow above the cliffs through woolly looking clouds of gray.

'Tis Winter in Kilcunda the air has a cold chill
Though it warms in the mid morning when the sun peeps o'er the hill
The white backed magpie pipes a brief song upon the blackwood tree
And the silver gulls are calling o'er the cliffs above the sea.

The wild waves of Kilcunda are roaring at high tide
Against the volcanic rock cliff base with great force they collide
A familiar coastal sound of Nature is the great ocean roar
Yet at low tide the waves lap gently upon the sandy shore.

The wild waves of Kilcunda today are rolling high
And the chilly winds of Winter blow across the morning sky
And to the brown hills by the ocean the Seasons come and go
And the old creek ever babbling as downhill towards the sea it flow.
