The Wild Women Poem by Shala Drake

The Wild Women

The wild women in the woods
Incense wafting in the air; sage
Cannabis and coughs
Drumming and whooping
Laughter and singing
Magical mystical sounds of the wooden flute in the woods
Worn paths with roots bare and deep grooves
Sacred sites with left mementos
Screams of pleasure and ecstatic dancing
Smoke from fires
Topless women walking about doing chores, visiting with friends, and relaxing.
Cooking of delicious meals and drinking wine.
