Oh wind, that in moods restless
blows so ceaseless and free ~
stirs to frenzy the mightiest
undulating waves of the sea!
Even the strongest vessels, reeling
oft' succumb to the strife
and go protesting to a soggy keeling
into a new phase of existence.
Many times in wonder and awe
have I seen its moods decide
who sails on, who to a hungry maw;
as ships spiral into a deadly dive.
Not alone in restless meanness
but upon the summer glide
I've seen the wind in grounded stillness
even as it subtly guides the tide.
And also this:
The wind reminds me of lyrical poems
I yearn to pen.
How varied are its restive sprees,
How fierce yet how gently it blows.
