The World Is Flat Poem by Charlotte Scadeng

The World Is Flat

The world is flat
and I stand at the edge of it
ready to leap into endless possibilities.

I raise my arms, bend my knees
and bound
forward into nothing.

Air sweeps me up
its hands around my torso
as I glide through the crisp and windy nothingness.

I see an island.
There is a tree.
I turn my body, as if flying is my natural state
and I head towards that island.

Gently I lower onto the soft, silken sand.
My bare feet warmed by its embrace.

Ahead I see the tree
and beneath the tree stands a man.
I step carefully forward
afraid I might fall.

He raises his arms towards me,
and I raise mine towards him.
And then I see him, and I touch him.
And we shall live beneath this tree.

Thank you. And yes, it certainly is a dream come true to find that person. :)
