The World Is Ours To Live In Poem by Francis Duggan

The World Is Ours To Live In

The World is ours to live in and the World not ours to rule
And those who are cruel to animals to people can be cruel
To be cruel for to be kind does not seem right to me
You win trust by acts of kindness though some with that may not agree,
The miller won't win customers if he crushes damaged grain
And he is not a wise farmer who saves his hay in the rain
And if you beat your horse and dog to them you cannot be kind
But in every point of view and counter point some argument you'll find,
From the subject of the matter I'm beginning for to stray
For what's cruelty to animals got to do with farmers or millers or with grain or hay
Though everything is related as Einstein used to say
And everything is connected in some strange and mysterious way
But the saying be cruel to be kind is open to debate
The one you give a black eye to can hardly be your mate?
