The Year Poem by Scott Stevenson

The Year

Rating: 2.2

do you reveal yourself
in the art of life
do you bring yourself closer to God
do cold clutches of mystery and hard nighttime
catch you and hold your arms down tight
is this purple emotion considered useless
when breath is fought for and lost
do we ever collectively forget about the sun
aren't we all, in our own eyes, beautiful sometimes
aren't you going to change

has this prayer been prayed for years,
unknowingly, in the back of my head
am i suprised that
this family heart is beginning to wake up
do you see the resemblance,
stare at us and clock our teamwork,
smile when we hate each other
do blessings get bigger before they vanish
isn't this a good time to reevaluate your path
is this the hammer hitting the bell
is God leaving fingerprints all over our world,
or are we leaving ours on His
are we counted for the love of magical thinking,
the year of revolutions
and hands helping weaknesses
will I melt with you at the bonfire of failed guises
will this lead to
what we struggle to live between
what will you say when my star crashes into yours
will I sail seas with you after the fact
can't it ever be as easy as that
