Their Appointed Role Poem by Francis Duggan

Their Appointed Role

In life they see it as their appointed role
The people who are into people control
When their people need aid of the aid givers they try to block the way
Like those terrible rulers in the Burma of today.

They rule by fear for sake of power and esteem
'Tis their only way for to cling to power 'twould seem
No respect for human rights they ever do show
And what freedom means they have no wish for to know.

Due to a cyclone in parts of their Country thousands have died
And due to them foreign aid to the homeless, the hungry and the sick is denied
Burma is such a sad Country no human rights there
Their military junta about their people don't care.

Their appointed role in life is rule at any cost
In Burma in a cyclone thousands of lives have been lost
But their Military Government who rule by fear
Do not want foreign aid workers to their Country anywhere near.
