There's Beauty in the Breakdown

Even though it had rained all day
The water made the pavement glow
And though branches may fall because of the wind
A song is carried wherever it blows

The sun has departed because of night's capture
But it will always fight back tomorrow
And when it pushes up and shines its rays
It will chase away the sorrow

In the gloaming, things look eerie
With its skeletons of trees
Yet the best part of a sleepless night
Is watching the sun rise above the leaves

The time you won your town the race
We chaired you through the market-place;
Man and boy stood cheering by,
And home we brought you shoulder-high.
