There’s No Feeling Quite The Same Poem by Emmanuel Stone

There’s No Feeling Quite The Same

There’s no feeling quite the same
As the one that you get
When you’re told someone from school
Is wanted for manslaughter, and
You’ve barely been out a month.
You think back to your conversations,
Did you suspect at the time,
Was there any way to tell
That one day this kid would be responsible
For the death of another?
And school is just finished,
The celebrations are still going,
Freedom still tastes fresh upon your lips
And your mind is numb from the possibilities
Of what the future might hold
And here is someone you met and knew
Whose future holds... what?
This feeling is the one you get
When you realise you’re an adult now
And you realise you’re in the real world now
And the real world is so harsh and lonely
And so blindingly real.
