There Was A Monster In The House Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

There Was A Monster In The House

There Was A Monster In The House

Like my sister and one brothers,
Janice beat her cancer.
What a gallant fight
Against the monster that invades
So many homes,
No matter race, color, age or gender.

Janice beat her cancer and what a blessing
As did my sister, Rossetta,
From 1986 when she was 45,
Call in your family she was told,
But she lived until one day before she
Became 75.

So happy to know Janice won her battle,
So brave she must have been...to win.
My sister scoffed when the doctor said,
She would not make it through
But she did with faith in Jehovah God
Her rod and strength until the end.

So happy am I for Janice and my brother
Who too survived and so glad to be alive,
Still smiling and strong...
Dear Janice I sing you a song to serve as a kiss in
The circle of God's love even for carton characters who play
On swings pushed by their best friend called Linus.
