They Do Serve Some Purpose Poem by Francis Duggan

They Do Serve Some Purpose

Though not all of Nature's creatures held in high esteem
They do serve some purpose or so it does seem
On some species us humans wish only ill
And given the opportunity them gladly would kill
But that all of Nature's creatures exist for some reason is how it seems to be
Though on such an opinion many would disagree
I do not know of anyone who would invite a rat or a mouse
To live free as a guest in the comfort of their house
And i know of plenty who great satisfaction would take
On killing a poisonious spider or snake
And though by Nature designed for their role to fill
Some creatures we only do wish for to kill
Though with such an opinion many would disagree
This anyway is how it seems to me.
