They Say Poem by Anonymous Ghurl

They Say

Rating: 4.5

Sixteen years I walked this earth
And every since my day of birth
I felt that I did not fit in
Even when I tried again
I saw the looks on every face
Saying this was not my place
Heard their words ring in my ears
Confirming all my darkest fears
The voices speak throughout the hour
Turning all my sweet thoughts sour
And laying waste upon my skin
Even though it's not my sin
People try to beat me down
Hit me, hurt me, make me drown
They say that I should go to sleep
And wake up somewhere cold and deep
They say that since I don't like boys
That they have no other choice
The meer fact that I like a girl
Has spun their world in quite a whirl
They say it's gross, they say it's wrong
They say it like it's a new song
They say that I should take a fall
And leave the world once and for all
And so I lay here in my bed
Wondering if, when I'm dead
Hell is where I'll make my way
And burn in flames just like they say
