Thief Poem by Lorene Kinsey

Thief

Amazing that in just a few moments
One selfish little girl almost steals a day's joy,
Grabs at each fleck like a plate of cookies
As she plucks each one from my reach, and
Stuffs them into her already plump cheeks.

My joy is infused with an aching emptiness.
Then I smile at the secret
That returns my peace...
Greed does not wear a size 3.
