Thief In The Night (A Song) Poem by Bill Simmons

Thief In The Night (A Song)

Rating: 5.0

Just about the time I was straightening out my life
Putting all the pieces back together
Here you come again like lightning in the night
Like a thief in the night in bad weather

Just about the time I was using my own mind
Thinking I could go on without you
Here you come again and here I am again
Again I'm reliving the blues

Just about the time I could fall asleep at night
And the dreams no longer come over you
Here you come again and walk right in my life
And here I am again missing you

One would think the heart would learn to run
To know when to stay away from hurt and pain
It seems the heart doesn't mind the tears that fall at night
Or the many sleepless nights I call your name

Just about the time I begin to live my life
Like a thief in the night you come to me
It seems a heart in love doesn't learn a thing at all
For here I am again living misery.
