Things Are Fine

Things Are Fine
By Snake Blocker

You used to be a mystery in the dark.
I found out who you were too late.
You went and broke my heart.
That year was tough.
But now I’m fine.

You used to be a drug I’d never find.
I’d shoot you up and shorted you.
Then everything was fine.
You got me ‘high.’
But I was blind.

You used to be a memory so fine.
I thought of you and smiled,
As you lived inside my brain,
Consuming thoughts,
I cleared my mind.

You used to be a person I could trust.
I gave you what you wanted,
As you offered me your lust,
You never slipped,
But I gave up.

Now things are fine,
Since I gave up,
But nothing’s fine,
Since I gave up.
