Thinking of how to be remembered,
Sitting somberly under the African baobab
Half conscious, Hmm! Half confused
These ones will do, at least for now
I want to be remembered as the warrior
The one who fought and conquered every war
Not with machetes, guns and spears
But with his soul, mind and voice
I want to be remembered as a freedom fighter
The one who stood in for those at the rear
Not with money, strength and spears
But liberated plentiful mental prisoners
I want to be remembered as the scholar
The one who academically achieved all
Not only the theses, accolades and certificates
But imparting to plentiful brains
(March 2014. Ofoase)
