Rating: 4.4

On an overcast evening, sometime in spring
A wedding was planned, for a fair maiden in her teens
As all of the guests would never know,
This maiden would never go.

As the guests entered, soon she would escape
For her lover was waiting at the gate
He thought their love would only grow
This maiden would never go

Quickly she fled around the bend
This is one love they could not mend
She was a hoe, and he didn’t know
This maiden would never go

The intent was to never return
The grooms heart was shattered in turn
He bolted from the chapel to pursue her-so
This maiden would never go.

Only he didn’t realize that her lover
happened to be the grooms brother,
He realized that this really blowed, that
This maiden would never go.

Knowing the secret took them to their tomb
Only later he learned, she had a wedding gift in her womb.
He could not believe it was so
This maiden would never go.

A story of disappointment in the bliss of love, well articulated and nicely penned with conviction. A lovely poem bristling with insight. Love is a spiritual experience and hence cannot be influenced unduly. Thanks for sharing Robert. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
