This Train Poem by Esther Hadassah Sendeza

This Train

I know heavy winds blow from the west,
And how when the rain falls hard,
A flood will usually follow,
But the destination is north,
The compass will not lead elsewhere,
This train will stay on its tracks.

I know you are thinking of seasons,
When the heavy snow hits,
And burries everything in sight,
This train will forge ahead.
Oh, and the mighty lightning,
That pierces the open sky,
And destroys anything it lands on,
This train will stay put.

So come what may, even the fog,
Temporarily hiding the destination,
This train is on its tracks,
And it shall not be derailed.

See,
Staying on the tracks is intentional.
Staying on the tracks is a choice.
