This Woman She Is Poem by Linda Barnes

This Woman She Is

Could I be this person
Someone who gave up dreams
From a woman to a lover
A wife, then a mother

As a child, she most likely
Was taught, to be independent
And, who will sacrifice
Being the woman she is

Before she can recognize
What strengths she will need
To become perfection
Of other people's needs

She becomes a chef
And housekeeper, to a career
Of being a wife and mother
Until one day, even more

Caring for all of those
Who may become sick
From changing diapers
To helping with arithmetic

Sometimes she is forgotten
Left behind to reminisce
A life she dedicated,
Without strife or regret

Always remember to respect
This woman, wife and mother
Who never would have missed,
This Woman She Is
