Those Were The Days Poem by Poeta Inspirado

Those Were The Days

It will all be over for many very soon
Somehow it keeps bringing me back
To those early memorable days

When it was the first day of school
Terrifying place for some, delightful for others
When the question was asked
“Can I be your friend? ”
“No” wasn’t taken as an answer
Simply because it was never one.

When we used to play before school starts
And tiredness wasn’t in our dictionaries
When we used to fight over
Silly, little things and stopped talking
Then became friends again the day after.

When we used to bring water bottles to assembly
When they served not to quench thirst
But more to reserve the sitting places
When we sang the songs whole-heartedly
Though the lyrics weren’t perfect
Those were the days.

Then came the day to move on
We all have, some didn’t leave
Those days behind
Because those were the days
It’s theirs and it’s never coming back.
Keep and cherish yours.
