Three Small Words Poem by Allyson Gordon

Three Small Words

How hard is it to say
These three small words?
That some speak every day
But I have not heard

Why can’t you say you love me?
Don’t you even care?
Loved is all I want to be
Yet affection from you is rare

Just to say ‘I love you’
Can make the world of difference
You told me when I was two
But I haven’t heard it since

If you really loved me
You’d want to tell me so
It is because of this, you see
That all I want is to let go

Your lack of love
Made me end up this way
I look up to the heavens above
And wish for death to take me away
