Thrown Upon A Stage Poem by Catherine Casey

Thrown Upon A Stage

Three interesting characters

Were thrown upon a stage.

One the local milkman

And a parrot in a cage.

The other a deep sea diver

In full helmeted suit.

Quite the combination

For unregulated toot.

The first delivered orat’ry

On gallons passed from cows

Sure to make the milkmaids

In front row to pat their brows.

The parrot almost lost his perch

Then settled in full swing.

Nervous disposition

Made him echo milkman’s tring.

The deep sea diver took a breath

To dedicate a line.

Not one of reciting

But the route to exit sign.

In the coming of together -

Defining of a time.

Yes they once existed

In a made up pantomime.
