Tic Toc Tic Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Tic Toc Tic

Time, relentless and ruthless, gives no quarter
Sweeping soul forward without ease or respite
Leaving only ebbing memories in its wake
Faces of lovers once delighting and inspiring
Lost days with loving family, so precious.
Childhood less pressing not pushing so hard
With bright summers that seemed never ending
Such adventures, falling in and out of love
Mind seeking answers, eyes new horizons
Joys shared with family and friends long gone.
How can time be paused, trapped, made hostage?
Embraced, prevented becoming hurried hours.
Bereaved heart is forced to leave happiness behind
Life measured by the ruthless tic toc of time.
