Time Poem by Glenn Shriner

Time

Rating: 5.0

When you were born time had stopped, for a brief second the hands froze on the clock.
I held you in my arms tight and close, counting each little finger and every little toe.
You were the perfect little angel, and I loved you so and now your 5, I watch you grow.
Your first day of school was hard to let go, now your 14 where did time go?
Times moving so fast, I want every second to last.
You now have a brother and sister, feels like your last.
You want to be 18, you want time to pass, so you can move out and be free at last.
You want to make decisions and learn as you grow, I too was once a teen here's something you should know.
I had no dad to tell me yes or no, being a father was too much so he let us go, how I missed him only God will know.
I learned from his mistakes, and it made me strong, I want to be a good father and teach you right from wrong.
We all make choices, some good, some bad, choices we make will make some people happy and some sad.
As a teen we know it all, but it's these wise words that pick us up when we fall.
Life is short, time is fast, don't always be first try being last and look at what you see, what might have passed, and make every second last, before you know it time had passed.
