Time Poem by Benjamin Campney

Time

there is a spot
inside our mind,
for most of us
it's hard to find.
But there are those
who now and then,
find inside them
a special friend.
A friend who loves
to jump and play,
you know that he
wont run away.
But as we grow
to a ripe old age,
that special person
no longer plays.
He used to come by
everyday,
now he seems
to have gone away.
time keeps slipping
so naturally,
you begin to forget
how things used to be.
And all the play
is so soon replaced,
by endless anger
the need to escape.
the past will only
bring forth tears,
so many people
lost to the years.
They wont come back
they can't I know,
so maybe it's time
for me to go.
No long goodbyes
mistakes were made,
your forgiveness is
my only delay.
Maybe there's a place
beyond the sun,
come take me now
this life is done.
