Time Not Wasted Poem by Hasan Haskovic

Time Not Wasted

It's not deliberate
Merely common misconception
The way the wheels turn
Without purpose, without direction
Tumbling towards a certain end
It's...not a matter of isolation
Some liabilities are meant to stay
In order to remind us
Of the things I dare not say

It makes sense
Perfect sense
The end of times
The lack of defense
As past pretensions stack
I intend to uphold the things I have
Not the ones I lack

What comes our way
Sometimes helps us
Sometimes holds the night over day
We might stop while we're ahead
And dedicate ourselves to something better

It's been years
It's been years, you said
Years since water has been turned to wine
Years since we tried to preserve time
But no matter how well assembled
The fragments can't recombine
If they fall to atrophy

Karma has a funny way of sending reminders
Not through storms nor heavy rains
But with the time in which a life expires
No longer bound to patronizing chains

It will sway, and it will crumble
Together to a certain end we will tumble
Senseless and sensational
Perfectly flawed
But after the curtain call
For us the crowd will applaud

Sanity will be restored
The evil will be outperformed

And we shall turn to ourselves
To tend to what we left unexplored
The chance of being better, not worse

The only way of transgressing this curse
And stop wasting time
My name shall be scrawled
On everything that I call mine

I promise, we'll be fine
