Time to Time Poem by Anthony Watson

Broken body and twisted mind
thoughts are lucid from time to time
the mind play tricks that the heart repeats
the hint off a doubt soon becomes a shout
what once was clear is now nowhere near
dark are the thoughts that invade my mind
dwell on them i do from time to time
try as i might to keep them at bay
they pry at my thoughts to lead them astray
so I follow them from time to time
lost in a swirl of anger and fear
so i close my mind let no one near
alone i suppress the dark within
never letting on that a twig could
break what appears intact and strong
and thus it happens from time to time
