Timmy Connors Gone From Dooneen Poem by Francis Duggan

Timmy Connors Gone From Dooneen

Timmy Connors gone from Dooneen in eternal rest he lay
He was a decent human being decent in every way
He was an octogenarian he lived to a good age
One with a good sense of humor and the wisdom of a sage.

He married Mary Corkery of Dereen some four decades ago
A nicer person than Timmy one could not wish to know
One of the best loved people in the Parish of Millstreet
People like Timmy Connors are nice to know and meet.

He never harmed anyone on his journey through life
Devoted to his family and devoted to his wife
For to help out other people he always went out of his way
And unkind things of others one never heard him say.

The hands of time keep on turning and time on none does wait
And on each and everyone of us there is a use by date
I last met Timmy Connors some twenty years ago
On a sunday in late November in Millstreet Town a day cold enough to snow.

Timmy Connors gone from Dooneen he did have a good span
And all who knew him will recall a thorough gentleman
On his long journey through life many friends he did gain
And with everyone who knew him good memories of him will remain.
