To Be Unheard Poem by Ebba Poole

To Be Unheard

Rating: 5.0

I give a voice to Sarah.
Sarah, the girl who speaks,
but has no mouth.
Who hears,
but will not see.
Who knows,
but will not tell.
She will never tell.
Who no one sees,
but she sees it all.

She sees the oppressed.
Those desperate to break another's heart.
To find common ground through pain and emotions.
To seek truth from unjust leaders,
whose narrow minds seek power,
who shout above quiet voices.

She sees, but cannot help.
Her individuality too withdrawn,
Her silent lips too scarred,
to reveal the souls within.

She wants to help
beacause her heart knows
what it's like to be unheard.

She could speak,
Her opinion may be heard.
But the quiet voice that was her own,
would never be heard,
above the din that is the world.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Originally written in the beginning of 2016, but I thought that due to the current events (the elections, genocides, rascism, refugees, airport bans and general depravity) I would post it now.
