To Long Ago Poem by Brian Furber

To Long Ago

Too long ago I thought I'd found someone
whose life I'd share,
Too long ago except to know, someone was
always there,
And yet although I'd found the one alone
for me
Too long ago I knew our love had foundered
utterly
Thus dawning days are futile now, the nights
are lonely too
Without her smile that used to say I am
just for you
Too long ago I lost her love too long to
ask her why
Too long the empty years ahead to care
without reply.
