To Mandela Poem by Nkwain Stephen

To Mandela

TO MANDELA
Father of freedom,
Rest in peace in Gods kingdom,
You never rest while we yell,
Your tirelessness no tongue can tell.
Even in prison,
Even charged with treason,
You fought for our right,
Your deeds made dull days bright.
You redeemed us from perilous monsters,
You rescued us from injurious masters.
You never betrayed your black china,
Not even for all the gold in china.
We weep to see you go
And wish we could say "no".
Your parting has engraved sorrow
On our faces, we now live in horror.
We no longer see your flesh,
Yet in our minds, you remain fresh
Like a lily at the sea shore
This we shall forget no more.
