To the Father who was never there.
To the experiences you've missed out on,
the 27 band performances with no show,
23 choir nights with no one to look at for help.
The hundreds of wrestling matches and 2 Nationals,
With no one to give me hope of winning.
Millions of hospital visits without you,
Without someone to say it'll all be okay.
To the Father who showed his own kids wrong.
To the experiences you've given me,
The 3 times watching you get into a cop car,
With no idea what was going to happen.
Hundreds of court dates,
And no smile of recognition towards me.
The blaming and using of me,
Leaving with no ‘I'm sorry'.
To the Father that was never a Father
But more of a shadow,
An example to others, including myself.
Showing that even the most loved,
Won't love you back
So sad. I'm glad I had a father who cared about me and the rest of his family. Your poem is well-written. By the way, this appears to be the first poem that you have posted to this site, so welcome to Poem Hunter!
Good poem. I remembered mine which I wrote many years ago.

Anyone could be a father, but it take much to be a dad. An insightful depiction of wayward fathers, well articulated and insightfully penned from the heart with conviction. Thanks for sharing Six. Please read my poem CHILDREN OF CRUEL FATE.
