To Now, This Multi-Diverse Present Tense Poem by Ananta Madhavan

To Now, This Multi-Diverse Present Tense

I credit Macbeth's famous monologue
And Sir Thomas Munro's Utopia.
But I want to say my piece.

Yesterday, yesterday and the day-before,
Crept in this hectic pace into the Past,
To the last syllable of recorded chronicles,
While all our tomorrows were lighting fools
To Now, this multi-diverse Present tense.

Out, out, thou long-enduring Light-Emitting Diode;
Thou art, after all, a narrow-focus ‘illuminator'.
Even a candle can shed its tender beams around.
You are for Utopians afloat on their own Cloud Nine,
Or disillusioned cynics who have grown Dystopian.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
In our idiomatic language, the 'present continuous tense'
is often used: like 'I am driving the car' or 'I am reading
this book'. We all have similar but varied present tenses in
life.
