To Start Anew Poem by Winifred Emma May

It's the same old self that will awake on
New Year's Day - with all its faults and
failings, but at least my heart can pray - that
God will give the bad old self the opportunity
-to work out something better in the year that
is to be.
Looking back, I see the many times I went
Astray - I forced my will on others and I tried
to get my way. I see the big mistakes I made,
the things I failed to do. So this I pray - that
I may have the chance to start anew.
