To The Love I Will Never Have Again Poem by Shalom Freedman

To The Love I Will Never Have Again

Who knows where the words are
That will take me back to the love I will never have again?
To all the torments and adventure all the pains and longings
That young desire knows?

Who knows where the life is
Which has that most intense and wild feeling
Which maddens as love?
It will never be again

And I in my old life must live
As if that most turmoiled time
Will never be mine again
And as if in my life
I am not really
And can never be in this way
intensely alive again.
