To The Narcissistic Addict Poem by Dawn Michelle

To The Narcissistic Addict

Rating: 5.0

(originally written in lyrical format)

I fear the worst has come to pass
I almost cried and then I laughed.
The shock was far more than I could bear
Oh why, is this so unfair?

I thought that we would last through sunsets
I thought that you’d be there for my best.
I had dreamed of your arms always around me.
Oh why, did you let me leave?

And here is where I give you up
Now is when I watch myself fall.
Get up, get up, get up
The day our hearts became one
Is the day I lost a part of me.
Why did you let me leave?

We were the product of overwhelming desire
You’d hold me close if you got higher.
You tasted like nicotine, sweet and addicting
Oh why, aren’t you listening?

I knew that we were impossible.
We now faced the inevitable.
Don’t forget me on these nights
Oh why, can’t we be alright?

And here is where I give you up.
Now is when I watch myself fall.
Get up, get up, get up
The day our hearts became one
Is the day I lost a part of me
Why did you let me leave

Anything beyond this was impossible.
Narcissism takes all control.
I gave you chance after chance
So where is your heart?
I tasted you.
I needed you.
I let you hold me (repeat)
I’m giving you away

And here is where I give you up.
Now is when I watch myself fall.
Get up, get up, get up
The day our hearts became one
Is the day I lost a part of me
Why did you let me leave

Brilliant flow of your heart...very meaningful share...your love, the broken words that left you sad...the good times and the bad.....all here..well delivered...I could hear the notes behind the lines...great
