To Wrestle With The Wind

I woke up in the middle of the night
because I thought I heard someone
called my name;

I opened my door and let the wind in
who brought me to a dream where
I saw my shadow wading in my tears.

So I ask him,

“Why do you cry inside my heart? ”

“How long will you keep pretending
to be happy when your soul is chained
to other people’s illusions? ”

But I told him, “if you are willing to be
chained, then your soul is truly free.”

“But what good does it bring you when
you are supposed to wrestle with the
wind and yet you let your freedom to
atrophy within your mind? ” he asked.

“So how could I wrestle with the wind? ”

“Free freedom from your mind.”
