I was born in a bank - - my mother went there and made a deposit

Todd Theodore Acrostic

Rating: 5.0

The Master sent him to us,
Our humble lives to bless.
Don't let us soon forget him;
Don't let us fail our test.

The dust of time may cover
His wheelchair and his toys;
Even then we'll not forget
Our son, one of our boys.

Dear Lord, help us remember
Our Todd and his life's call,
Rejoice in memory of him,
Example to us all.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is the only one of my poems that is literally carved in stone. Some years ago, my nephew passed away after struggling with cerebral palsy for all of his short life. I wrote this poem in his memory, and his parents liked it so much they had first eight lines of the poem carved on the back of his headstone. The first letter of the first word of each line spell out his first and middle names: TODD THEODORE. Written in 1977 and posted on Poem Hunter19 September 2014 from Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil. Both of his parents have now also passed away, his mother in January of 2020 and his father in January of 2021.
