Tomorrow Will Be Brighter Poem by Orange Scribbles

Tomorrow Will Be Brighter

Ten, twenty years from now, where will I be?
At a cozy house or a fancy office maybe
But how will that be if education is denied from me.
One, two decades from now, what will I be?
A business tycoon or an executive, I think I will be
But how will that be if from care I was deprived, when will you see?

I was a victim of an unknown criminal
Whose decisions put me in a place so dismal
Whose actions put me in a situation so critical
I was deprived from love, of attention and of care
I was denied of leisure, of rest and play
I was bereaved of someone I needed to stay

I don’t have books, neither clothes nor toys
I never known what a party was
I never saw a discussion in class
“Oh, heavens hear my plea”
Relieve this sentence of suffering from me
“Oh, Lord hear me please, help me get through this”

I didn’t know what play is about
And didn’t know what’s a ranger or a scout
I was never acquainted with debuts or soirees
And was never introduced to a smart protégé
Of many things I didn’t know
Stones and trash unto me they always throw

“Who are you? ” a well-dressed man asked me once
With his tie well put and his shoes well shined
“I am..” I was just about to answer
But “Shoo..” was the word in his lips, it was there
“Who are you? ” “What do you want? ” “Get away from me”
“Shoo.. Shoo.. Shoo” were the words I was well acquainted to

Though my eyes were wet with tears
And my cheeks muddy because of this
I swore to myself never will I let myself be beaten
Neither by fate nor destiny as they may say
I will fight for what I should have
Much more fight for what I should be

If a kid is only what you see,
Look into my eyes and I’m sure there you’ll see
A soldier with a raging heart, struggling to be free
From this prejudice bestowed unto me
Coz’ I know times will get much tougher I may feel tired and cry due to hunger
But I will work hard to beat these odds in front of me though I know there will be danger

For I promised to myself, whether I’ll be facing swords and dagger, I will make sure that
Tomorrow will be brighter!
