Tonight I'M Just Blue Poem by Jim Boone

Tonight I'M Just Blue

Rating: 5.0

That's all, God, just blue
I'm not really praying
Mostly talking
As You and I often do

Tears can blind us
Cleanse our souls too
But right now I can't
Seem to see my way through.

You know the things I ask for
Like freedom, understanding
And the mean$ to amend
The way people react to
What I Am and things that I do.

If there's any truth in the bible
Then You did say ‘Ask and I will get'
And because I do have faith in
Creation and Eternity, that's why
I'm usually repeating myself yet
But not tonight God, tonight I'm
Talking and writing because I'm just blue.

Down here it's ‘hell week' and I pledge
To think and talk before I act a fool
And I hope you understand that when
I ask for something more than once,
It's not because I doubt You're listening
But because You said ‘ask, ' not ‘ask once
Then assume you got a ‘No', because I
Know there's a lot of prayers and asking
Coming up to you from the Earthly gene pool.

I'm trying to ‘give it a rest' and tonight
I'm just blue.

I love this one Jim, it's very good. Melancholy so often seems to be my close companion, so this speaks deeply to me. Keep writing, it's great.
